The moment we've all been waiting for the announcement of winners for the Cosplay Costume of the Year has finally come and we're all very excited to know who won in each category.

As you all know, my entry this year is my Cinematic Ahri Costume. If you haven't read the behind the scenes making here is the link:

Held at SMX Mall of Asia Last May 16, 2015.

I decided to dress up as Rin Tohsaka from Fate Stay Night because the Ahri costume is very big and I won't be able to fit inside the venue. The entrance fee is 100, fortunately for us, we were given free tickets as the winner and so many events listed on their website. The line outside (side) of the SMX was long and temperature is really hot, but it was worth it once you get inside. There was a Cafe by the entrance and comfort rooms at the First Floor. We were informed that there is also a Dentist Convention going on at the same time of the event. Once at the entrance, we surrendered the ticket and had green stamps. By the entrance it was the registration booth and I asked if the Singing contest is still open but unfortunately it was closed. Beside the registration is the Yoshinoya booth where you can have packed meals, booths in the middle and drawing tables for the artists. There were huge Dressing rooms beside the Stage Area.

I immediately looked for the Otaku Asia Magazine and bought it. Magazine is worth P80.00.

    Holding the Otaku Asia Magazine

I was informed that the call time would be 2:00pm, I arrived at the venue at 1:00pm so I waited and watched the event going on. By the time I sat down Bring Me games started. Then there is also the challenge to cross the mini Torii.

The first half of the cosplay competition started and I was stunned by the tremendous Mecha cosplay. I was right infront of the stage and It felt scary just looking at it. After that, we were called at the side stage while they announce the Winners for Cosplay Costume of the Year.

I was chosen as the Best Female, I was asked how I feel and when I told them, "I feel nervous", they asked me why I still feel nervous I already won. I was nervous because it was my First time to go up stage and receive an award for my costume creation, Ms. Jia Bustamante was beside me and Mr. Robert Wong, Editor-in Chief of Otaku Asia Magazine is also beside me. I really feel like I don't have anymore blood in my veins, had tremendous chills and so on. Well, can't blame me for being nervous! Then they took pictures of us. We all gathered upfront and got taken pictures and videos.

When Mr. Liui got up stage the girl crowd had gone wild and everyone was very excited to have his autograph.

After that I had my Fan Sign with Ms. Jia and of course Picture! I am very glad to finally meet Mr. Robert and he signed both my Cosplay + his Cosplay. I wanted to have the signature of the other stars too, but I needed to go because of class schedule the next day, and I needed to get ready.
At side stage waiting to be called for the final picture infront, I'm holding the Best Female award

Yours Truly, RS Shi and Mary Gutierrez

For all that helped and supported me in this Journey, I Truly Thank you! Thank you for choosing me as your Cosplay Costume of the Year Best Female 2014.

After the awarding, I immediately went to Yoshinoya booth to eat, they have packed lunches. I haven't had lunch when I arrived it was very near call time.

Guys, never do this, never skip meals especially when you are going to get in a stressful situation (mine is just nervousness but it affects me a lot esp. with my metabolism), why?
well I had Ulcer after 1 week and it was incredibly painful!

Ulcers happen when there is excessive stomach acid secretion causing the protective lining of the intestine to create holes or breaks, it hasn't been proven that stress can be the cause but it may aggravate the condition.

As for me, I only had little breakfast and no lunch. My stomach had nothing to digest coupled with my nervousness, well we all know what happens when it gets too acidic. Even though I ate after the awarding, the damage has been done and I'm always reminded  "Prevention is incredibly Better than Cure"

Stay tune for more of my adventures!

    Invitation

University of the Philippines Anime Manga Enthusiasts held an open forum:

Generation Gap: How Anime in the Philippines Influence Filipino Generations!

When I found out about this, I got very excited! This discussion took my interest since I have been a very big fan of anime since my younger days. It is open for non-up students so Yey!

Back then, I remember my older brothers and sisters would go gaga over Voltes V, but they prohibit me to watch because of its violent content.

I indulged on Animes such as Akazukin Cha Cha, Blue Blink, Sailormoon, Kimba the white lion, The adventures of Tom Sawyer, Princess Sarah, The adventures of peter pan, Georgie.

    TRAVEL
So back to the event, I inquired my travels there, it took me 3 jeepneys to go there, when you get to the U.P gate, there were jeepneys that go inside the campus to drop off at College of Arts and Letters or "CAL." CAL is then just a short walk from the drop-off point. You may ask nearby guards for directions. Once you get inside CAL, go upstairs and proceed to Room 207.
It wasn't very easy to find the building as there was another big buiding infront, so we had to ask the guards for directions.

    Main Event

When I arrived at the area many students gather around and registration was in front, the program started with a film showing the anime that greatly influenced people, namely: FUSHIGI YUUGI, VOLTES V, CODE GEASS, each shown with an episode or two. This was done while we wait for the main speaker to arrive.

Late afternoon, Prof. Vladimeir Gonzales came in and started the talk. It was an intelligent talk, during his years of study he observed a lot of factors and evidences where anime situations can be seen even with inside political matters. he pointed out even the disadvantages and advantages it will bring forth to our future. How strategies are made with anime as your inspiration.

The presentation came with the visual Powerpoint aid but we were not allowed to take pictures. The talk was brief, short but precise. I seriously would love to hear more from all his experiences and views. I would be wishing for another forum like this.

    MANG LARRY'S

After the talk, we head to Mang Larry's which is just one jeep before going out the gate. We ordered everything there is available on the Menu and as we wait I go pose in the nature beside their store.

I was actually sad because all my 300 pesos gone immediately and my bf saw that I looked great being sad, like a SAD DOLL in the nature. Dress and hairstyle inspired by a Korean death God character.
I look so happy here after we were given the cooked Isaws. Never mind the 300 this is once in the lifetime.
So these are the pairs that we bought.
I lost info which is which but my receipt there are all that we purchased.

If you ask me which one is my favorite I will not be able to respond to you because all of them are MMMMMMMMMM! Delicious!
Probably the juiciest of all is the Chicken butt.

    Arrival

I wanted to find out why so many preferred to come to Ozine, although there are a lot of internet blogs and comments that I've encountered seems to be negative, I wanted to see why it is one of the most attended events. I went on the last day, it is the only open time that I had. The traffic was very nice, I took a bus to reach SM Megamall. Traffic was swift.

It was about 12:00 pm and I immediately found the ticket booth after a short walk to the entrance hall, The ticket price is P200 .The line was short it was very easy to buy one, I went inside hoping to find the registration was on the other side, the place was a little crowded and I can see that a lot of booths are on the middle, cosplayers sitting and standing, a gaming station, exhibitors, food stands, and the huge guests area. The atmosphere was warm, when we were about to exit near the registration, they said we have to go back to where we came from, exit there and go back on that side again. we did that and registered, I was numbered 38, I gave them my song number but they told me that it has to be given to the Technicals infront of the stage, they also informed me that the competition starts 5:30pm. I was hungry so we had to go to lower ground to get to food court. The food court was expectedly super crowded but blessed be we found seats, I had my bento (lunch) with me so we didn't have to buy food.

    Entrance to unexplainable hell
It was about 1:30pm when we got back to the venue. The singing contest was going on, we watched the program, including the Auction about the taurpaulins which was bought 5k+, I was seriously stunned, most people are actually buying taurpaulins that high of a price! the place is a a super business area. I loved the rare displays of Figmas and the cute Nekomimi ear as well as the Kawaii Bags, accessories and rare items.

As time passes 3:00 pm, the crowd gets bigger and atmosphere gets warmer, I was on the watch for the program for the start of the competition, had photographed by a lot of wonderful people, made friends, and those who appreciated my efforts. Then I sat down but the event area started to get even more crowded than ever that we weren't able to find any place to settle down, so we stood up, but I started to feel nauseous until up to 5:00pm that my partner decided that I retreat back home because I'm not getting better. The program took so long, quite draining for a person like me.
Regarding the rules where they said that the cosplayers aren't allowed to loiter outside halls unless they have business outside, and fast., well some did, and even took photographs, honestly speaking, if cosplayers DO follow the rules they would be stocked like a canned of tuna inside the Hall, it is incredibly crowded inside and  I noticed, as the place gets warmer, the venue starts to decrease oxygen supply. When I found my tagged pictures, I noticed that in certain parts of the venue, the lighting was really bad, explains why most of the cosplayers accumulate mostly where the parts where lights was great, making it difficult for people to move. I observed at everybody's faces, They are all frowning. They do smile in front of cameras but mostly frown, especially on super crowded areas.
I still kept asking the question if why most people prefer this kind of venue and situation?

Is this what most people look for in a cosplay convention?

On the comfort room, I heard most cosplayers argue with the security guards, "nagtatagal kayo para sa mga customers ito andaming nagaantay" and cosplayers would answer "pero customers din po kami ate" "kumakain din po kami ng pagkain" "parang trato nyo samin di tao" etc. etc. I was not allowed in some Comfort room and asked to transfer for how many times. It is truly frustrating.
    Conclusion:
Ozine is one of the biggest event held in the country, many people gather so expect a super crowded area, a lot of cosplayers gather and you will see a LOT! If given the same venue, Megatrade Hall, expect stricter rules by the Security, well unnecessary discrimination, which I don't get why, stressful environment and physically challenging situations.

This view may vary from person to person,as for me, I'd prefer a pure Cosplay type event, spacious and crowd friendly environment.

With regards to this article, I wish to know, your answers to these questions:

Why do you go to Ozine, despite the fact that there were issues about the rules?

What do you think about the recent Day 3 Ozine? It's difference from the other past Ozine events?

What's your reaction of the overall event?

Your point of view is very important.

    INVITATION
An invitation to 8th Philippine Cosplay Convention was sent to me to attend this event, two days before the event, schedule was not consistent but when it opened up,  I planned to go in order watch and be a cute cat coser.

    TRANSPORTATION
My ride was not very friendly because LRT train aircon was shut down and I was chosen an outfit, turtle necked and long sleeves, it was really HOT~ Good thing it took only 30 minutes ride inside the train.

    EVENT AREA

We had to walk a few steps there and Finally saw the Robinsons Mall Manila, it is my first time there and I do not know where to go, I followed people to entrance and effortlessly found the event area , it's spacious, A stage in the middle and seats up front. There is also costume of Ahri New Dawn and Weiss exhibit at the side. I arrived at exactly 12:00 pm, So I went first to Jollibee and had a jolly time.

    EVENT STARTS
The event started 2:00 pm, the host of the show is Ms. Fatima Jongco. It started with the Bring Me games, red lipstick, 500 peso bill, most handsome,
    Most Handsome

    All won the Most Handsome

     then MOST BEAUTIFUL.
    Interviewed all the competitors

When that was called they pushed me to go up the stage, they said that we perform something to get everyones vote, so each one of us did, I said MEAW and gestured, I was very Shy, goodness I laughed at my self. The one with the most cheer gets to be the winner, but all of us had the same equal cheer and they had to confirm twice. Ms. Fatima asked me why I dont want to join the cos competition, but words didnt come out, I wanted to say I was literally in Shock with going up stage and planned to watch the event only. They all gave us a bag with the Hobbiworx Logo
    THE MAIN CHALLENGE
I sat down and relaxing myself from the shock when my meaw told me that I should join the competition. I felt like I had no blood in me anymore, haha. He convinced me that if I don't fight for my dreams then when will I start? and guess what he told me to do as a talent show? Sing. Wow. I was unconvinced for an hour but I realized that he is correct and closed eyes ask for help with registration,  they extended the registration time to 4:00 pm,I was given the number 47, Mr. Lionel was very kind to me, he assisted in my registration. A total of 72 Cosplayers joined the Competition.

    PHYSICAL CHALLENGE
1 hour passed and my throat kept drying, I was very cold, and keeps on voiding. I figured out I'm in NERVOUS state. The Comfort room was very far and that everytime I go there I felt like I burned so much calories already. I started to have hoarse voice, I tried to calm self, plus the heat from the whole area affected me too. When my number was called I was surprised the cosplayer GUMI before me was not able to go up stage so, I'm suddenly called up. I needed a Mic. A song started and I shouted 'KONBAWA' 'MEAW DESU' then started to sing. painfully my voice was expectedly hoarse, but I can't stop now, so I still continued to sing, only this time I cannot hear my voice. I was very nervous that in the end I hasten the song. P.S I did Acapella because I do not have a song since I'm not ready. I even forgot to bown down the right way. After the singing,I immediately gave the Mic back and exited the other way.
I felt really troubled since I could not hear my voice and anxiety was very high. But then I was happy and laughed at myself a lot it was fun truly comedy for me, I felt better and I went to take pictures of cosplayers. A few hours after.
    THE COSPLAYERS PERFORMANCE
I was able to watch other cosplayers and I was very entertained with all of their talents.

When I started to have photo shots with the other cosplayers, people and photographers also started taking pictures of me, I met Sir Alex Winchester, my Tagged friend and No Face which gave me a super delicious Hershey chocolate.
