Home remedies for COVID-19 (Home quarantine patients)

Early January before COVID-19 was announced as Pandemics, several of my friends who traveled and gone abroad or on frontline duty shared their stories on how they survived, even back then there were no test kits yet and could not prove that it is the disease itself.

Most of them did not receive treatment as they were only regarded as regular flu and was just sent home, some others were only regarded as PUM and were as well sent home They've shared with me how they were able to make it through and recovered without confinement or intubation.

They've experienced these symptoms, the only difference is the time time of onset of symptoms and severity:

    Vomiting
    Diarrhea
    Coughing
    Fever
    Chills
    Body Aches

    COMPREHENSIVE EXPLANATIONS on explainitmedicine

These on top with the most dangerous symptom: DIFFICULTY OF BREATHING later on.

    So, here's what they did:

    1. Vomiting and Diarrhea

Some of the first unbearable symptoms most of my friends felt, they focused on REHYDRATION and ELECTROLYTE replenishment
    Solution:

    a. Rehydration drinks, Isotonic drinks used for sports
    b. For vomiting, salted biscuits, they actually ate corn chips, any chips as long as its not oily and nuts.

    2. Coughing

The experienced a lot of coughing, which they use the following:

    a. Menthol candies or throat anti-irritants
    b. Vicks or alcamphor spread in the neck (skin)

    c. Honey, calamansi ginger tea

    3. Difficulty of Breathing

     Solution:

    A. Vicks or alcamphor

    B. Hot bath for vasodilation  ( up to 8 times hot showers or bath)

Yes, the my friends almost became mermaids staying on hot showers, it helps a lot to breathe because of the warmth from the water, however, they did mention to always put a cold compress on the head every time on the hot bath to avoid heatstroke.

    C. Vapor steam or 'Suob'

This helped my friends to breathe better because of the warm vapor.

    4. Fever

My friends experienced above 38 degrees celsius fever and each time they feel that a fever a starting they try their best to lower it down and prevent the body temperature to go higher.

    Solution:

    A. Ice packs on the forehead or towel that was dipped on ice and water even while on a hot bath.

    5. Chills and body aches

While on a hot bath, it was mentioned that both body aches were relieved because of the warmth and since its the water is warmth thus chills are addressed as well.

Warning: Always have ice compress on your forehead while having a warm bath to prevent heatstroke.

    a. Hot bath

Of course, it does not mean you that you should not have your self checked, it is important that you do have yourself for a check-up, my friends have themselves monitored all the time until such time they turn negative and a test kit arrived, the good news with that is they lived without going intensive treatment, and it's not because of their strong immune system, actually, most of them even have underlying diseases like hypertension, diabetes and asthma and other even get exposed from nosocomial diseases. Since there is no cure yet, they advised focusing on not only increasing the immune system but also alleviate and focus on the symptoms felt to avoid certain shock or death.
