I am truly grateful for Pulutanfest for allowing us to join the first ever Pulutan and Drinks event in the Philippines. It was just perfect as I feel terrible that we were unable to join a Matsuri event at Ateneo due to personal reasons so as a motivation cosplay... we are going to make sure I'd be bringing our most favorite Izakaya server - Shinobu-chan from Isekai Izakaya!
So let's start!
Shinobu chan went to the venue at 3:30pm, very early actually since she's used to prepare early for the Izakaya to open.
Trixia Salonga cosplays Shinobu of Isekai Izakaya
Preparation is simple, just donning in the cap and the apron since she already came in cosplay.
The venue is at Liwasang Kalikasan, she makes sure to tell Taisho that she arrived and will start learning more about Craft Beers and Pulutan!

The pathways are lined with tents and there is a huge stage with the VIP seats, but we are not staying there because Shinobu needs to learn more about Craft beers.

By the way, this is Shinobu from Isekai Izakaya, she's a server there. The anime is about serving customers from another world, by that means their front door!

Okay, so now to the main event.
Let' see to what location Shinobu is taken to when she opens the door. I've put down an ULTIMATE LIST for every single craft beer and pulutan booth, Keep in mind that not all were covered but we did try to include everyone.
So to the first tent, Shinobu serves Turkish food for Pulutan or snacks complimentary to beers. It's a brand new taste for me and would definitely love to try it!
🍡KUYA TANTUNI TURKISH FOOD WHAT THEY OFFER
Authentic Turkish food is served in Pita Bread or Rice but Pulutan is served in Beef or Chicken
I was amazed to meet Hotbox PH in person, I saw their launch back then and I was super curious about their self-heating Bento Box. They are the first one in the Philippines. Damn, I was jealous of those that made it on their PR I wanted so much to see it but Destiny aligned the stars that brought us together and I finally saw it with my own eyes! This is similar to the MRE packs from the military... I know my gas mask peeps would be interested in these!
Pull the string and it will heat in a minute or two, the steam time is around 3 minutes but the heating mechanism is continuous for 30 minutes. They mentioned that they wanted to serve especially those camping so that they could access hot food anytime anywhere.
WHAT THEY OFFER: BENTA BOX:
Siomai - 235
Bopis - 239
Tokwat Baboy - 239
Sisig Siomai - 225
Garlic Soy Chicken - 305
Kindly refer to their website for the complete list, they offer even Italian and Chinese on their menu so scroll for the link.
Actually, Shinobu hasn't eaten yet, Thankfully Hotbox offered a taste test and demonstration of their self-heating bentos so I got to try one of their spicy siomai!
They offer a lot more food varieties and the best part is that this is just perfect especially when I go on my cosplay travels and I really want that Hot Bento.

Shinobu's Siomai falls
Shinobu caught the Siomai in her hand, haha
Actually, my partner suggested that it would be nice to have an indicator sticker just like in Pizza Hut, to know if it's hot already. Like this one featured in Rudi's Blog.
Aaaallllright so this is what Shinobu is here for, the Craft Beers. Actually, Taishou told her to study more about them since the last trial with Gernot she doesn't have a clue about the differences of their beers in Aitheria and Japan.
Nama-incho omatase Shimasta!
🍻CROWS CRAFT BEER
So, the first Craft Beer we visited was Crows Craft and Distilling Co. offered me a taste of their craft beer and it was the perfect start. It has such a refreshing clean taste that I feel like I've inherited the fast learning qualities of a Crow.

Here is where real learning about Craft Beer became really fun. He asked us if it was our first time and educated us.
HOW TO ENJOY A GOOD CRAFT BEER
1. AROMA - First try swirling the beer gently to release the carbon dioxide and aroma notes in the beer and distinguish the aroma. (Oh gosh, it feels like I'm Jean-Baptiste from Perfume.) Describe whether is it floral, or fruity.
2. COLOR
3. TASTE - the smell validates with the taste
He taught me the basics of how to enjoy a good beer, firstly the aroma and then the taste. He asked me to describe them and I said it's Chocolate... but he said there isn't and I said it's coffee... no there isn't.
and I went what???
At this time I really am doubting my smell and taste capability because it really is like those two. But that's when I was caught off guard when he told me there was no coffee nor chocolate in it.
But it smells like there's chocolate on it, and he confirmed that there is CHOCOLATE MALT (BARLEY roasted to release the notes)
And I said it's Alchemy!
WHY IS IT A PORTER? WHY IS THE BEER DARK?
European Countries brought their dark beer from the Shipyard to the Ship and they wanted to drink a quick beer, It was dark because they roasted so they didn't get drunk and they were able to carry out loads.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO CREATE A CRAFT BEER?
A Month it takes to make proper beer, especially with the chocolate porter for the flavor to pop-out!
At this next booth, I recognized the cute kid from the video on social media introducing their craft beer. The owner told us that he has been a homebrewer for many years and started brewing for a couple of restaurants, and it was about a year ago that they started this brand
Oros Kolsch - German Recipe that they said has the same taste as when you go to Germany. (more subtle flavor good for any pulutan)
Oros Strong Ale - for hard drinkers (with fruity and floral aroma notes, this can cut the fatty and oily feeling on food, and pairs well with strong tastes like beef, pork, and fish)
Oros Light - recommended for LADIES DRINK (like San Mig)
Oros is a craft beer that they make at home, they are aiming to have their beers served in stores.

🍡GOURMET FINDS HORSE MEAT
WHAT THEY OFFER / PULUTAN PARTNER RECOS:
HORSE MEAT ADOBO - 100
CALDERETA - 100
TAPA - 100
Store opens 6 am - 8pm
Accepts Bulk or pickup
GOURMET FINDS booth surprised me as I never tried horse meat before, but now I am in love! I tried their tapa horse meat and OMG it's so juicy and tender, I never even realized that it's horse meat! Of course, I thought that the meat might be hard but it's not it's so much more umami than beef!
He told us that they are the fifth Generation to serve this special delicacy and explained that common misconceptions about Horse Meat used here are those that are on the roads, it's not true, and that It's locally bred in Batangas.
SOURCED: MALABON
Here is the Tapa, my favorite. I wanna have mooore! This is just perfect pulutan!
It's chewy with a kick of spiciness, there is no taste like the Horse at all! I thought it was beef.
My partner and I were intrigued as to why Pares is served as pulutan, they said it's a good hangover cure. So I tried and I was surprised that it did!
Much likely thanks to their Pares that I didn't hypogly all the way while I was interviewing the craft beers and I haven't had breakfast nor lunch yet. This is sooo perfect hangover cure!
Oh, I forgot we were given tokens for games but we couldn't play anymore since we're busy with interviews.
At night, it rained and oh what a waste to lose all the outdoor seating, we were all standing gladly there were tents near booths. But my partner and I proceeded on with the snaps and a bit of inteview.
Among the ones that we took home is Gerfina's delicious Salsa because my partner loves them with Nachos.
The first flavor I was given was Cheese and I love it!!! I'm super a fan. The next two got me a bit red since they have a spicy flavor yet it's the best partner for the nachos!
We posed by Emperador next with the lovely ladies.
Now here is a craft beer we also bought one. My partner connected with its bottles' pop culture art. For a recommendation on the ladies drink mix Tropic Haze and Fizzo, the one I'm having here.

We hope you enjoyed and learned a lot about the histories and info about Craft Beer in the Philippines, Thanks for supporting local!
I'm just curious, have you tried any craft beers in the Philippines before? If so, let me know what it is you think is the most unforgetable in the comments below.

The highly anticipated event has finally arrived! But amidst the excitement, our dedicated cosplayer found themselves in a last-minute frenzy. You might wonder why, considering we had been given a two-month extension. Well, unexpected changes are not uncommon in the world of cosplay. Initially, my partner had been working on a Monster Hunter costume, but he wasn't satisfied with the outcome and decided to switch gears just a week before the event. The new character of choice? Vocaloid's Bottle Miku. However, even that didn't feel competition-worthy, so he made yet another change and ended up creating a unique Ball Joint Doll cosplay of his own design.
RUSHING TO GATHER MATERIALS AND PREPARE MAKEUP
With the sudden shift in cosplay plans, we found ourselves scrambling to gather the necessary materials and makeup just two days before the event. We hurriedly visited malls and stores like Mr. DIY to find everything we needed.
The dress had been chosen well in advance, with the intention of creating a Ball Joint fashion ensemble. Finally, the day had come to bring that vision to life. However, we felt that something was missing from the overall look. So, my partner decided to incorporate cat ears as a headpiece. I suggested bringing cat paws as well, but he hesitated, and in the end, we regretted not having them.
Swatching Revlon Colorstay in Natural
As for makeup, we bought most of the products at SM North, and they were all brand new, except for my trusty LA Girl concealer, which unfortunately wasn't available at the time. Even the HD foundation I needed wasn't in stock, so I had to make do with my previous one. Unfortunately, it started to clump up later on, which became a source of concern. Thankfully, the new Revlon Foundation proved to be a lifesaver. I'm immensely grateful for the lipstick freebie they gave me, which came in handy at that crucial moment.
On the final day, we ventured to Victory Mall, but we were disappointed with what we found. The shoes I had been looking for were no longer available. However, our spirits lifted when we decided to explore SM across the street, where we stumbled upon various interesting stores, including a Korean photobooth on the top floor. It was there that we found the perfect leggings for the cosplay. After our shopping spree, we grabbed a bite to eat at the mall's food court and indulged in some Sinigang.
THE DAY OF THE COSPLAY COMPETITION
I did my primary makeup at home and wore a hairnet to keep my hair in place. Since it was a Sunday, we were fortunate enough to get a reasonably priced Grab ride, costing only 300 instead of the usual 500 on weekdays. The journey was smooth, but we encountered a long line upon arrival. Knowing we needed ample time to prepare, we managed to bypass the line, fully aware that we would register later.
The Malabon Sports Complex was vast, with vents and fans ensuring a pleasant airflow. However, I couldn't help but worry about the temperature once I donned my costume. I knew it had the potential to become uncomfortably hot.
PREPARATION
As soon as we arrived, I hurriedly changed into my costume in the Women's C.R., conveniently located near our seating area. The venue was already abuzz with cosplayers in their gowns, makeup stations, and a stage set up for the competition. A photo booth and 360 booths also awaited our arrival.
Taking a closer look at the stage, I realized that despite its appearance, walking on it could be quite precarious. It had been three years since I last wore heels and walked confidently, so I silently prayed to avoid any embarrassing stumbles.
PHOTOSHOOT TIME
Getting my makeup ready took some time, but once it was done, I rushed to the photo booth. This was the highlight of the day for me—I absolutely love photoshoots! However, as someone who had become a Hikikomori during the pandemic, I struggled with posing. I knew I needed to work on that aspect of my performance.
CATWALK COSPLAY
We were informed that we could use the catwalk in any way we liked, unlike the models who had specific guidelines to follow. This distinction reminded us that as cosplayers, we had to handle everything ourselves—creating costumes, doing makeup, and even arranging our own photoshoots. It would have been wonderful to have some assistance with makeup, costume, and hair, so I could focus solely on perfecting my poses and performance.
Suddenly, while I was walking one of my stilletos spit. Thankfully, when Sir Donn and the other went back they bought with them glue and I stepped on it hard. I need more time for the glue to stick.... With Blessing
The schedule was adjusted, causing some changes, and our performance was slated for around 3 or 4 pm.
Once everything was sorted, the atmosphere changed completely. The tension and anxiety dissipated as each cosplayer took the stage, and vibrant energy enveloped the venue. It was a delightful transformation, and everyone wore smiles of joy. Backstage, I was feeling a bit weak due to my ongoing fasting, which made walking in heels a challenge—except for the time I had to strut in the middle. At one point, a mother asked if I could help make her child fall asleep. However, the child's bewildered expression upon seeing my cat ears made it clear that sleep would be elusive.
I struck up conversations with the cosplayers beside me backstage, and it turned out to be a super fun experience. I was told that my eye makeup looked good and I told her thank God for LA Girl, but I realized she was referring to the diamonds that I placed, chuckles, Thank you for noticing!
One of the many makeup artists, and designers shook a Eureka with my style and eye makeup inspiration and before you know it, Helene Budol has the same eye style makeup like mine!
After the event where Makeup artists and Designers the eye makeup of Herlene Budol resembles that of my Ball Joint Doll Cosplay Fashion Ensemble
It seems like my eye makeup is not the only thing the designers were inspired with, see this post from another Netizen that was also the inspiration for her gown.
Since I wasn't fully prepared for the performance, I only posed briefly in front of the cameras.
We decided to head home early, around 4 pm, after taking a few photos with other attendees and models.
We were among the first to leave the venue, as we needed to return to reality swiftly. Nevertheless, I couldn't help but wish I could have stayed longer, basking in the dream-like atmosphere of the event.
I have a vlog about this, let me know if you'd like to see it and I'll attach the link

To SalientFeaturesph, and SpeedForcePh Thank You so much for the wonderful Photos and for organizing this event! Especially to Sir Donn, Sir Arman, and Sir Dennis.. We definitely had a blast and looking forward to the future event.
Wow, time surely flies by. Just then, we were celebrating the holidays and now it's the summer and easter has gone by.
The summers here in the Philippines are definitely scorching hot! Just the other day, provinces just reached the highest heat index of 48°c and it's predicted to go over that. It's a total hell of earth, and I just remembered temperatures in Japan reaching 30°c and there were already companies turning off power and deaths from the heat. Goodness... (update just as they announce that it will reach 50 degrees, gladly mother nature cools off by giving isolated rain showers and pausing from extreme heat. Thank you Mother Nature!)
But since everyone's sharing their summer escapades, I figured out I should share mine but well to be honest it's not really taken during the summer but we went to the province last January when it was so cold from the holidays season.
The province we went to is one of those that reach 30°c to 40°c on a daily basis but during the December or January, the place is icy cold!! Quite the contrary, yes.
So without further ado, here are our Vacation in the province.
And to top it off, I challenge my daily gas mask for a gruelling more than 8 hour period no taking off, no eating travel (times 2 since its trip to and from, also wore it there during day trip) and see what happens.
Keep in mind, I don't have vaccine yet on this time and was careful since new evolution of the covid virus is still rampant.
We were really anxious in this trip at first but proceeded since we know that somewhat the progression of the virus is better than before.
BOOKING A BEACH FRONT INN
It's the family's first trip outside and we think that getting to a familiar place is better. The countryside is bf's province and he knows the place well. He contacted his mother earlier and booked a room in an inn that they know the staff so we're all safe and sound.
I checked the inn at their facebook page and gladly they have good reviews, a place to barbeque and a fantastic beach view.
So with all that, it leaves only the tickets booking.
RIDING A VICTORY LINER'S PET-FRIENDLY RIDE
Gladly, Victory liner posts updates on their schedules on their facebook page, so I looked closely, inquired, waited and confirmed for the pet friendly ride that comes the first and last trip.
We decided to get the last trip for going to the province. The ticket range around P500 including the dog.
PREPARING DOG'S ESSENTIALS DURING RIDE
I prepared all of the dog paraphernalia in advance. As per memorandum, dog must be on a crate, with leash and diaper. But being a furmom, there are still many things the dog will need, they don't put this on the manual so here are the real essentials to bring for travelling with your fur baby.
Wet wipes (important)
Poop bag (definitely important because those diapers don't contain the poop inside, only the pee)
a retractable leash with trash bag holder and led light (suitable for small dogs so they have the freedom to go farther)
water container (the ones that has the button flow so if the dog doesn't finish it you can just push it back to the container)
Extra clothes for swimming and occasion
small pillow in the caddy
I realized there's a lot to go being a furmom, but I'm really happy that I get to have these things for Tweety.
RIDE TO THE COUNTRYSIDE
Anyway, we took a grab car to the bus station and they are fine with Tweety as long as it's on a caddy. BTW, the caddy we have for her is sooo cute! I'm happy with my purchase!
The tickets were taken care of by bf and we just waited for 30 minutes in the terminal and eventually hoped on the bus.
GAS MASK EXPERIENCE:
First hour of being in a gas mask from the house to grab car and bus terminal is comfortable.
However, since I decided to wear my coat and a bit warm clothes preparing for the aircon in the bus (which they say were cold) I felt uncomfortable at the terminal as its hot to wear it there!
6 HOURS BUS RIDE TO THE COUNTRYSIDE
The subtitle is actually very lucky as its usually 8+ hours just to get in Lingayen, Pangasinan. We took the last trip pet-friendly bus around 9pm and this amount of time we had was actually faster than expected and the ride is comfortable since its night time, its cool to move around even if you wear a coat.
GAS MASK EXPERIENCE FOR 6 HOUR BUS RIDE
3 hours after when we got into a bus stop, I really want to take it off. Pressure from the sides are making my headache but I never took it off nor wipe anything at inside as we have coughing passengers left and right. My bf never took it off too even with my mom telling him to eat.
On the few hours before departed, my headache were there and I'm hecka impatient to take it off. I miscalculated the aircon from Victory Liner I thought it was going to be icy cold but since the trip is packed with people it wasn't cold anymore and I experienced heat cramps.
ARRIVING AT LINGAYEN 3:00 AM
When we arrived, bf's mom was surprised since we arrived earlier. She met mom for the first time and as usual mom and I were nervous but was happy to see her well.
She picked up 2 Tricycles for us, if you ever get there at this time, there are tricycles at the terminal waiting and they can take you to your destination. Tricyles are the main transportation of Lingayen as the roads are so small.
Surprisingly, it was so cold and comfortable. Seriously, not what I was expecting. But they told me that during December and January it's really cold there like Baguio, making it the best favorable time to visit Lingayen!
Anne's Beach Inn and Lodge
Anyway, we took the tricycle ride to the beach inn and surprising the whole place still had christmas lights turned on but there are no more people walking, most have gone home and are sleeping.
We were immediately scorted to our rooms, they oriented us of the schedules in the morning. And my mom, still could not believe that the room is just for the three of us, me, mom and tweety.
The bed is huge! It could fit three persons on the main one and one more on the pull up bed. The place is neat and clean love the minimal design of the cr but I noticed the lack of heater which is fine for the summers but not during december and January.
We were supposed to sleep but I could not. Tweety was also anxious of the unfamiliar place, and would not eat nor drink.
She was sleeping with my mom (mom was crying for some reason that I do not know but shes not talking about it)
Anyway, just when I was about to get a sleep we need to go. The sun was beautiful and the sight of the sea from the window was just tropical dreams but outside its actually icy cold!
GAS MASK EXPERIENCE
Finally, I was able to take it off after 8 hours! I got red marks on my face and the pressure hurts a lot. What a relief to be able to take it off at that moment, I didn't know I was able to pull it off but its not done.
BREAKFAST AT DOK'S GOTO AVENUE
Early in the morning, bf and his mom came picked us up to grab breakfast and they decided to have us eat at DOK's Goto avenue taking a tricycle cab there. Everything looks different in the morning the colors are so blue! The sky is so blue much like the sea and fresh air is far different unlike the one in the manila capital.
Anyway, back to the Goto place. This is famous place to get porridge but they do serve rice meals which I ordered.
Gladly a dried seafood vendor stopped by and offered us these, so we bought dried eel, dried squid etc.
GAS MASK EXPERIENCE
For the first time, we took off our gas masks. We are anxious AF. Bf decided to sit in a outdoor area where there are lots of ventilation.
Bf ordered the biggest Lugaw and mom had too. Meanwhile, after breakfast it was just the perfect time that a dried seafood vendor visited, mom was able to buy Espada ( Eel) and other dried fishes.
Next, we went to the destination which mom loves. We took her to the sunday's plants fair, its where they sell really affordable plants and rare ones too!
PLANTS FAIR
It's located at Lingayen city Fish port, stalls line up and plants ranges 100 pesos up and we definitely got a good lot of bargain.
After this, we planned to go to the wet market however, since we bought a lot plants we decided to head back to the hotel inside and they decided that I catch a snooze till 4 pm. Well, I am thankful for this since I could not get any sleep last night at all.
LINGAYEN AT NIGHT TIME
In the afternoon, we headed to Epiphany of the Lord Parish and took a moment to say prayers. The church is so cute, with its prominent structure near markets and lively establishments. They still had the Christmas tree up since it was just January 6 when we got here, Philippines still celebrate Christmas until the Three Kings so you'll normally see it.
LUNCH AT LAZARO'S GRILL
My second time eating here and we're back, this time they had extended their second floor and we were the only one that got to dined there, the air breeze is so nice even though the sun is high enough every is so refreshing.
Lazaro's Grill is being renovated to extend its seating area, and it's so much better. I love the all-wood theme of the restaurant, believe me or not but the second floor is super cool especially when winds pass by even on the hottest temperatures.
We ordered their Specialty Pigar-Pigar and Kaleskes, the Pangasinan's favorite dishes. Pigar Pigar is made out of stir-fried carabeef, liver and onion in thin slices.
Kaleskes has carabao or cow's intestine, tripe, pancreas etc with soup seasoning of vinegar and spices.
Grilled Squid, tilapia, Igado(pork liver dish), caldereta, barbeque, ginisang labong ( bamboo shoots), chopsuey are among the dishes that we ordered as well.
The delicious dishes we got are
Pigar-pigar and Kaleskes, lots of rice and carbonated drinks.
I think I may not be adjusting to the room yet as I did not get a snooze the whole freakin night. Tweety was sweet with mom and slept with her.
LIMAHONG CHANNEL TOURISM CENTER
Bf and his mom took us here in the afternoon and I loved the beautiful plants and the scenery of the Limahong Channel, you can see people parked fishing and enjoying the scenery. Meaw has told me of the urban story that "if you made it to the end of the beach you'll go insane in a specific time and place, when then sun, wind and the sea talks with each other". That's how the locals tell the same story and it's fascinating. I may be curious but I don't want to check it out and go insane, haha.
FULFILLING MY PROMISE TO BRINGING TWEETY ON THE BEACH
When we got back to the hotel, we took a walk by the beach, I was finally able to fulfill my long-term promise that I would bring her to one but the waves and sky looks scary and intimidatingly high for her so she did not want to dip at all, she also hates the sand on her feet and made me carry her. Well, I did try once at least.
LINGAYEN NIGHT BAZAAR
When we returned to the hotel, we just walked a few steps to the Bazaar and there are booths and beverages offered with energetic music on the beach side.
Further away we walked to the restaurant, supposedly we wanted to eat at Consuelo Hotel and restaurant but we were surprised that its closed at 7 pm already!
Yeah, restaurants close reaally early here.
So we just went back to Lazaro's grill since it's still open at that time.
PACKING UP
The next Pet-friendly bus is at 3:30:00 am and we're planning to catch it early so we packed up and said our goodbyes and thank you to meaw's mom for taking time giving us the tour and welcoming us in their hometown.
BUS TO METRO
This part was the most painful one since I didn't sleep for 2 days already, I was so tired at the bus and fell asleep hard. I now experienced the heaviest feeling carrying the mask while sleeping, gravity pulling my head in front and my sleep gets interrupted all the time. How I wish I can strap my head on the bus seat so it wouldn't fall and this time we rode for 10+ hours, traffic plus loading of passengers and finally when we got home, I breathe and took it off with the ultimate relief and satisfaction and set it aside for the next journey.
