First time buying in a fresh market online, cooking delicious dishes, enjoying quarantine

Visayas Market Delivery Vegetables food meat

It's my first time buying fresh food virtually. We don't usually do this because we prefer to see the condition of the food by ourselves. Also, that's the only time I get to go out to catch fresh air, going to the Hypermarket. Unfortunately, I am left with no choice but to order it online. Why you may ask? I've gotten a bit weak due to my monthly period, plus the quarantine pass isn't assigned to me.

Did you know how confusing and difficult it is to shop for fresh food online? It is like, stalking every bit of store you can find, continuously asking for either their delivery fee or minimum fee and other availability.

The first one we had ordered, did not even disclose the minimum fee, and did not answer my follow-up texts for three days!

I was already experiencing hypoglycemia and hypertension already that I feel its best they will form a Dragon Ball Fusion and I do not even know what to name it, maybe, Glytension?

We canceled the order and I went to search for another delivery. I then thought maybe a market near me would be the best. Waltermart is a no-no as they are always booked and their minimum is 2000.

I even got as far as the Cagayan De Oro market by mistake and apologizingly embarrassed.

Then, I remembered the one that was in the news and Quezon City Government page, the Visayas Avenue Market. Gladly, when I've searched I found their pdf list and order form immediately.

I also noticed they indicated they accept a request if the item is not on the list. It's exactly what I was looking for since I need to replenish Tweety's dog food supply.

I waited for an hour and there was no follow-up so I texted them immediately, they replied to confirm and there I added a few more orders for meat products and Tweety's Dog food.

Later on, we received a call to confirm the location and payment details. While I was just sending the payment, the dogs barked and there it was the food has been delivered!

In just three hours it arrived after the order has been placed, I haven't even finished sending the confirmation of the payment!

We were wide-eyed already with the fast delivery but our jaws dropped when we saw the quality. We thought they'd just give us unbranded oil, but they gave us Golden Fiesta. The vegetable color is vibrant. The meat is where we were most impressed, it was a good bright red color. An excellent sign of guaranteed freshness.

We bought Squash, onions, garlic, flour, cornstarch, pork chops, liempo, kangkong (water spinach), Calamansi, potatoes, okra, munggo, dog food (pedigree). Total of 1,616. The minimum is 1000. The delivery fee though indicates 80 pesos only but it says we were charged 140. I think maybe it is because of the request?

We packed everything up on organized containers and place some on the freezer for longer shelf life.

At dinner, we were definitely excited about cooking. I requested my favorite Sinigang Dish, pork, and water spinach. I forgot to request for something to make it sour, but we have mixed for Sinigang na Bayabas and that will do. I remember afterward I can actually use the new Calamansi pack, maybe I will do that later on.

On the next day, we had another meal which is Sauteed Pork with Gata, also delish!

One of our potatoes had buds on it already, hihi~ it's fine since we plan to have it planted for new produce.

Tweety now is also a happy dog as she found her new supply, but it's back-up dog food, so that will wait for later.

It took me quite some time researching which one would be able to deliver to us and this was even more than what we expected. Although, as much as we want to keep on ordering there. I still have more things I need to buy that are all available in one place and how I wish that it would be safe to go outside again. As for a busy freelancer like me, our only leisure time is to go to the market for a good walk.
